My success story began when I started writing about multiple topics including fashion and street style for different destinations combined with travel, beauty, and lifestyle.
A lifestyle blog website has enabled me to work for myself as a business owner, earn money, and become a digital nomad traveling the world. It also enabled me to combine my passion for SEO, affiliate marketing, e-commerce (selling my own digital and physical products online), blogging, and most importantly helping others find solutions to topics that I am very passionate about.

What Is A Lifestyle Blog? What Is A Lifestyle Website?
A lifestyle blog or lifestyle website might come across as confusing to others because there’s no specific topic that’s involved in this type of blog (website).
Let’s start by first understanding what a blog is. A blog is an online post that can either be written in a creative conversational way, informative, informal, or formal ways on a particular topic or range of topics.
This differs from an essay or composition which is more formal and structured (although there is nothing preventing you from blogging this way if you choose to).
A lifestyle blog is an extension of this concept with the focus of the blog being on your life interests and experiences. The blog topics are either very general with no particular focus or very focused on one particular aspect of your life.
You really have the freedom to decide what you would like to write about in your own unique way and you can include multiple topics that either interest you or revolves around your lifestyle.
This could include fashion, food, health, fitness, wellness, travel, careers, motherhood, blogging, entrepreneurship, product reviews, online marketing, and some other content mixed in every now and then.
It’s really a wide-open platform with many options and this is why I highly recommend that you choose a lifestyle blog if you were to start blogging.
The benefit of this approach is that you will not be stuck in one particular subject area. So if you somehow get bored along the way you can always switch gears or pivot and write about other ventures that interest you or might be of benefit to others.
For example, I operate multiple niche sites, one of which revolves around fashion, packing lists, destinations, reviews, travels, e-commerce online store, and affiliate marketing. This lifestyle site is primarily focused on my sense of fashion, street style, outfit of the day (ootd), travel, lifestyle, blogging, affiliate marketing, e-commerce, and entrepreneurship.
I also wrote an in-depth step-by-step guide on how to start a blog or website here.
How To Start A Lifestyle Blog Website To Make Money Online & Become A Digtal Nomad Traveling?
Here’s how to start a lifestyle blog, but before we begin, I highly suggest brainstorming your ideas and topics that you’re most passionate about so you can identify the most important topics to include in your lifestyle blog.
The reason why I keep mentioning passions is that without a passion, you might find it difficult to stay consistent and grow your blog.
Combine your passions with how you can also help others and provide solutions to their needs. I believe that most topics that we are passionate about have a massive market online that we can target a large audience by providing informational and helpful advice or tips.
Also, writing from your experience would significantly help you to produce more content, and others would be able to relate to it. Writing from your heart really shows credibility and the love for the topics you are sharing with the world. This, in turn, will provide long-term value, and eventually, generate more traffic to your blog and income from your blog.
When you start a blog, I suggest not comparing yourself to others who have already established themselves and have come a long way. This will just eat you alive and might at some stage discourage you from pursuing your dreams. Also, I suggest not copying what others are doing simply because it’s the trend or it’s because it’s what everyone’s doing.
I know that we all get stuck in that situation, comparing ourselves to others and it’s not a pleasant experience. Instead, try to focus on yourself, focus on your goals, and your business plan. And most importantly, focus on how you can execute your ideas through your lifestyle blog.
Set your mind to start a lifestyle blog and put this into action with all of your passion behind it, you will be surprised by the outcome.
Step 1: How To Choose Blog Topics?
1.1. What Is Your Lifestyle Blog About & What Are You Interested In?
Have a think carefully about what your lifestyle blog is about and what interests you. Because blogging based on your interest will help you to produce more consistent content, and in return, it will also help others solve their problems.
Blogging about the topics that you are interested in will also allow you to create various products and perhaps an online store that you can market to a different audience or a targeted audience.
Also, I find it really useless to blog about topics that I have zero interest in. So why would you blog about topics that you can’t even relate to? That’s just so boring, and it would be so difficult to write about the long-term.
Creating a lifestyle blog that’s based on our passions will allow us to prosper and succeed in the long run. Eventually, you can also start monetizing your blog in a variety of ways, through Google Adsense, or Affiliate Marketing (promoting other people’s products) this will provide you a passive income, create your own products through your online store, and many more.
So what are the topics that interest you? For instance, in this blog post, I provided some examples of topics here that might give you some ideas.
Yes, I have multiple passions, and that is the reason why I create lifestyle blogs I enjoy broadening my horizons, knowledge, stimulating my brain through learning, and writing about various topics that I am extremely passionate about.
Most importantly, the topics I write about are mostly based on my experiences, things I have tried, and have done in my life’s journey, as well as sharing my tips and knowledge.
1.2. What Are You Good At? Are You Multi-Talented?
Some of us are really skilled at doing some things. If you are particularly skilled at doing anything in life, why not share your skills and educate the world?
Starting a lifestyle blog is a perfect platform to provide awareness and share your skills. Whether you excel in arts, fashion, music, writing, marketing, cooking, or anything that you love and enjoy doing.
That being said, if you’re passionate about so many things in life, then, why not just start a lifestyle blog? If you can offer advice, and helpful tips that can generally help people out, they will naturally flock to your blog or website.
Step 2: Choose Your Web Hosting & Domain Name That Supports WordPress Platform
2.1. Choose WordPress Platform For Self-Hosted
WordPress platform is the best blogging platform to use for your self-hosted blog. What I mean by a self-hosted blog is that you should have your own web hosting so you fully own the full content and data for your blog or website.
I am so passionate about WordPress as a blogging platform, and I use it for all my blogs/websites. There are so many reasons why I love WordPress: –
- It’s free to use provided you have your own web hosting with either Bluehost, A2 Hosting, Siteground, or WP Engine.
- It’s easily customizable even if you have zero knowledge about website design or coding.
- Compatible with all blog/website themes.
- There are lots of free plugins that you can install and use for your blog.
- WordPress.org is a commonly used platform, and there are tons of useful resources that can help you fix and improve your blog if ever you need help with it.
2.2 How To Register A Web Hosting & A Domain Name For Your Self-Hosted Blog?
What are domain names, web hosting, and a self-hosted blog?
It’s vital that you choose a self-hosted blog through Siteground, A2 Hosting, Bluehost, and WPEngine so you fully own your blog content and data.
Otherwise, if you choose a free blog or website you run the risk of losing your blog content, as it has happened to me in the past when I chose a free platform that was shut down resulting in me losing all my content and web data. Other bloggers have also had a blog that they didn’t own shut down with similarly disastrous results.
Bluehost is one of the web hosting and domain companies I use for some of my blogs, Siteground, A2 Hosting are also the two hosting companies that I currently use for my other websites. All of these hosting companies are reputable with excellent customer services, affordable, and they also offer a one on one support via chat, phone, and email.
A domain name is basically an address for your blog which is the URL. Without a domain name, you cannot run a blog.
I hope you’ve already chosen a domain name by now. Please note that a domain name is basically the name of your brand so think carefully about choosing a name for your domain, as you won’t be able to change this once you’ve registered.
A Web hosting is basically a service or server which allows your blog content to be searched and discovered through the internet. Your blog content and data will be saved or stored safely and securely under your web hosting company through their server.
Both the domain and web hosting are vital components in order for your blog to function and go live through the internet.
2.2.2. How To Register A Web Hosting And A Domain Name?
Bluehost Web Hosting & Domain
Go to Bluehost to register a web hosting and a domain name in order to keep your blog up and running from the beginning.
Select “get started now” so you can choose your web hosting plan with your domain name.
Bluehost also offers a free domain name once you register your web hosting with them. They also offer free WordPress installation, and free Let’s Encrypt SSL (which is fundamental security for the site).
They also offer free site builders, a 24/7 support system, and all of which are free of charge and at a discounted price as soon as you register your web hosting with Bluehost.
Select Your Plan
Next, select your plan that’s appropriate for your blog or website. The basic plan is suitable and more than enough for all types of lifestyle blogs even for beginners.
However, if you plan to create multiple blogs, then, I suggest choosing either the plus or the prime plans as they offer more features. It’s really up to you!
I personally chose the prime plan when I registered for my web hosting because I manage multiple blogs.
Enter Your Domain Name
Next, type your domain name on the blank field and then click “next”. Alternatively, if you’ve already purchased your domain name from another provider, you can just enter it under the “I have a domain name” field.
Enter Your Account Information
Next, type your contact information in order to complete your registration and move on to the next step.
Choose Your Package Information
Next, choose your “package information” under the account plan. If you decide to select the 36 months upfront to prepay, you will definitely receive a great web hosting discounted price offered by Bluehost.
However, if you find that the 36 monthly upfront payment is too expensive for you, then you could also consider choosing the 12 months upfront payment. Please note that if you change your mind, you can easily cancel within 30 days for a full refund.
Also, please note that the 36 monthly upfront payment is a great value for money. This is because you will get offered various free features, discounted prices, and free features including the Let’s Encrypt SSL which is highly recommended to add to your blog to enhance credibility, safety, security, and trustworthiness.
And in addition to those features, you also don’t need to worry about monthly renewal for your web hosting plan. You will only have to pay for your next renewal once your 36 months are due for expiration.
Alternatively, there are a few other web hosting plans that you can also register from such as A2 Hosting, Siteground, or WP Engine if you find that Bluehost is not suitable for your needs.
Enter Payment Information
Next, you can enter your billing or payment information so you can proceed to the next step and complete your web hosting and domain name registration. Agree to the “Terms Of Service” Agreement.
Choose A Password For Your Account
Next, you must choose a strong password for your account so you can log into your Bluehost hosting features.
Please note that the password you choose for your Bluehost hosting payment and information will be used to log in to your account verification purposes in order to get access to your Bluehost support system. Please ensure that you keep a copy of your chosen password information securely.
